Background: Banbury School is a very large 11 to 18 mixed comprehensive school on the southern edge of Banbury, just 10 minutes walk from the town centre. Banbury School has received the prestigious 'Sportsmark Gold' award in recognition of the quality of its curriculum, extra-curricular activities and links with community. The school has also been awarded the 'Football Association Charter Standard for Schools', winning the 'Regional Award' two years running. The school has many sports facilities which include two gymnasium, one sports hall, one hard court area - netball/tennis, fields - hockey, football, rugby, athletics; one all-weather, flood-lit astroturf and two outdoor basketball initiative sites. Many sports take place at Banbury School: hockey, netball, rugby, football, gymnastics, badminton, tennis, cricket, athletics, rounders, aerobics, dance, trampolining, health-related exercise, softball, ultimate frizbee, golf and fitness. This school is recognised throughout the county as having an outstanding reputation for delivering the arts. The school has recently received the prestigious 'Artsmark Gold' award in recognition of its very high quality arts provision. The school aims to develop the skills and self-understanding in students to enable them to take full advantage of the challenge and changes of the 21st century. .
