General information

Background: Set in a 'pleasant and historic' village, the present building dates from 1853. It has been 'greatly improved and modernised' through the years and now offers 'spacious' accomodation for children and staff. There is an assembly hall which also serves as a gym and lunchroom, an 'extensive' playground area with adventure playground and a 'large secluded' playing field including football pitch and running track. Being a Church aided school there is regular contact with the parish church. Assemblies are often taken by the vicar and the church is used by children for services, concerts, special assemblies and religious education studies. Deddington is 'fortunate' to have an 'active' Parent-Teacher Association which offers many social activities to parents and children as well as raising funds. Local children's organisations, clubs and adult groups are linked to Deddington and some have use of the school's facilities. The school is partnered with schools in Sweden and Greece and there is e-mail correspondence and reciprocal staff visits between the schools. Sport is 'high profile'. Despite its small size, there have been successes in football, netball and cross-country.
