General information

Background: Gosford Hill School is a secondary school and sixth form for boys and girls in the age range of the pupils is 11 to 19. The school has excellent facilities including a swimming pool, sports hall, squash courts and fitness suite. There is a synthetic turf pitch, suited classrooms for all disciplines and dedicated rooms for information and communication technology. There is a separate sixth form centre, well equipped with supporting facilities for research, private study and recreation. There are a wide variety of opportunities for students at lunchtime and after-school. The school maintains a strong fixture list in all major team games, with a particular forte in football. Educational trips are also organised to enhance the curriculum. These include a year seven camp for all students, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and expeditions to Peru, Morocco and Sri Lanka. The school's focus is on the student as an individual, acknowledging both rights and responsibilities. A strong pastoral structure underpins a curriculum that seeks to develop the potential of every student. Academic rigour is valued at all stages, and the classroom focus is on challenge, engagement and achievement. Learning is celebrated in all its forms, and at every level.
