General information

Background: Since 1856 the school has served both the local community and a wide surrounding area. The school building has been constantly expanded over the last 50 years and now has seven classrooms, a school hall and library. There is at least one computer in every classroom. Outdoor facilities include a tarmac playground, adventure playground, extensive sports field, and a range of wildlife habitats with a pond. The school aims to give every child time and space to develop at their own pace. Children with Special Educational Needs are identified and can be assisted individually, and lessons are sometimes grouped according to ability and rate of progress. Topics are studied for a term or half a term, and are complemented with direct, practical experience gained from outside educational visits. Pupils are taught six activities in physical education lessons, and the oldest three years are taught to swim. Pupils can participate in extra-curricular music lessons, and there is a thriving choir. A lively After School Club runs each evening, involving a variety of activities. There are also weekly after-school sports clubs, and a team sports day at the end of the summer term, to which parents are invited. Parents enter an important partnership with the school and are welcome to give voluntary help within the school. The Kidmore End School Association exists to raise funds to improve school facilities and to promote the social community of the school. They encourage active participation in worship at the local church.
