General information

Background: Located in the geographical centre of Plymouth, John Kitto Community College combines an 11-18 comprehensive school with a large community learning provision. The college became a Business and Enterprise Specialist College in September 2004. It has a range of excellent facilities which include two sports halls with a dance studio and climbing wall, outdoor heated swimming pool, nine designated ICT suites with ICT facilities in departments, purpose-built learning resource centre including library with ICT suite and multi-media facilities, specialist accommodation including 11 science laboratories, 10 design technology areas, art studios, drama studio, music centre and a careers centre, community and adult education centre and youth centre. The college offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities and clubs. It has established an excellent sporting tradition and a full range of teams for all ages is available which includes football, hockey, basketball, cricket, tennis, netball, cross country and rugby. Its expressive arts department is also very active with students involved in the choir, band and drama productions. The school aims at raising aspirations for individuals and its community and then providing the opportunities for those aspirations to be realised.
