General information

Background: In 1981, the amalgamation of Notre Dame High School with Bishop Vaughan Secondary School brought a new school into existence named Notre Dame Comprehensive School for Girls. In September 1993 boys were accepted in the sixth form for the first time and the school became Notre Dame Roman Catholic School. The school is a voluntary aided secondary school, which caters for Roman Catholic girls mainly in West Devon and Cornwall. The school offers a rich and varied programme of activities to build and extend the skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom. During their school career students are offered opportunities to visit field study centres and many local venues. The school accommodation includes science block with six laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and general science, technology and science centre, a suite of computer rooms for information technology, fully equipped language teaching rooms, a library, a resource centre with reprographic and audio visual facilities, a hall and a gymnasium, tennis courts and extensive playing fields, drama hall, music centre with teaching and practice rooms art studios for painting, pottery, printing and photography, careers office and library, administration block with records office and staffroom, a medical room. The school is a community within the Roman Catholic tradition striving to prepare young people for life and promoting Christian ideals. .
