General information

Background: Southcote School is a co-educational primary school and caters for children from four to 11 years of age. It is situated on the western outskirts of Reading Borough and serves the Southcote area of the town. The school was opened in May 1954. Set in grounds of six and a half acres, the school has excellent indoor and outdoor facilities for all curricular and recreational activities. The outdoor swimming pool provides an important dimension to summer physical education. The school has a well-equipped ICT suite with an interactive whiteboard, which is used effectively across the curriculum. The school offers various extra-curricular activities that vary from term to term including football, cricket, rounders, chess, recorder playing, drama, gymnastics, country dancing and many more. Visits to locations relevant to the work are also arranged. Groups of parents and teachers meet regularly to organise fundraising and social activities. The school aspires for the individual to be confident in his or her ability to learn by developing appropriate attitudes to work and the world around.
