Background: Founded in 1905, southwest of city centre. Split-site: Upper School in Grade II* listed building (1837); Lower School in Private Finance Initiative building (2001). Multicultural intake; broad-based curriculum, with all-round strengths. Specialist language college status from 1998; Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese. International links with Spain, Germany, France, Italy, United States, Japan, China, Poland, and Hungary. Exceptional sport, with 300 fixtures a year against other schools; City of Sheffield athletics champions for 13 successive years. Strong drama, music, outdoor education.
