General information

Background: Notre Dame High School founded in 1862 by the sisters of Notre Dame. It is located in beautiful grounds in the southwest of the city. The site is extremely attractive and includes a mature woodland and a 19th century mansion. There has been considerable new building in recent years and this includes an Open Learning Centre and a City-Learning Centre. It is a Technology and Humanities College with excellent provision of Information and Communication Technology facilities. It offers a wide range of academic and vocational courses. There is a strong tradition of success for students of all abilities. Many of the activities are offered in school through partnership with other staff such as music and physical education and work in liaison with other local organizations including charities, sports centres and music and drama groups to offer participants activities out of school. The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme also provides access to a variety of sporting activities including cross-country, running, rock climbing and horse riding. The range of sports offered at the school includes gymnastics, trampolining, dance, netball, basketball, rounders, tennis, athletics, football, cheerleading and volleyball. The school aims to provide a Christian community, which values every individual and the contribution that they make to the school.
