General information

Background: Separate buildings house the infant and junior departments, which were amalgamated in 1997; also facilities for all-day nursery provision and before- and after-school care. The school is set in attractive grounds and has a long-term business partnership with Severn Trent to develop the environmental area and grounds. There are strong links with Knowle parish church and the local community. At harvest time, pupils deliver food parcels to local senior citizens and also invite them to the school summer entertainment where older pupils serve a strawberry tea. The school supports a number of charities throughout the year, although the main fundraising event is at Lent when everyone in the school works together to raise money for the Lent Project. The school was granted Beacon status to develop accelerated learning. Part of this project included linking physical activity and academic success ('fit for learning') and using computers to enhance learning. A wide range of extra-curricular activities is offered, including gardening, art, choir, football, netball and chess. The school is over-subscribed.
