General information

Background: St Augustine's is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic primary school, first opened on 14th July 1885, second primary school was built on the site adjacent to the Church in Station Road and the original building is now used as a parish centre. In April 1991 the school moved to its present site in Whitefields Road and is on the same campus as St Peter?s Catholic School. A very close liaison has been established with St Peter?s and in view of the fact that St Peter?s has sixth-form provision, it is now possible for Catholic children to move from nursery to sixth form on one campus. All in the school are indeed, proud of the school. It is spacious, bright and superbly resourced with modern facilities that include an excellent and well-equipped foundation stage, seven well designed classrooms ? each with reading corner, a computer and a wet area. There is a well-resourced library, an enclosed courtyard area, a domestic science area, a music room and spacious assembly hall. There is a spacious ICT suite with 15 computers all linked to the internet via Solihull LEA used by all year-groups. The school has interactive white boards in classes and in the school library. The school is situated within extensive grounds with a large hard surface play area and a football pitch. St Augustine is a Catholic school and doctrine is taught in accordance with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The school aims to create a happy working atmosphere in which all the children will be able to progress according to their ability. They are encouraged to develop self-reliance and to this end the school gives them as much independence as is possible.
