General information

Background: Brymore, a secondary technical school for boys, was established by the Somerset Education Committee and opened in September 1952. In 1994 it became grant maintained and moved to foundation status in 1999. It is based in a large country house, part of which dates back to the 15th century. Surrounding the school are over 60 acres of pleasant grounds and farmland. The school has a dairy herd and an acre of walled garden. There is a substantial new heated greenhouse, which contains a mist propagator. The workshop complex was substantially developed and extended in 1988. It comprises superbly equipped workshops and design and theory rooms. Control technology and computer aided design, in the new CAD suite are the latest facilities to be available to pupils. The school offers many clubs and activities including fishing, sail-boarding, canoeing, chess, mountain biking, computing, fitness and weight training and motor vehicle maintenance and the workshops. There is also a very active Young Farmers? club enjoying a resurgence of popularity. Visits and expeditions for various groups are arranged every year. The school aims to maintain an active and supportive community, which values each individual and in which each individual feels valued. .
