General information

Background: Charlton Horethorne Primary School is a Church of England school which reflects the values and beliefs of the Church. A new school hall was erected in March 2001 and this has resulted in enhanced provision for all aspects of physical education and movement throughout the school. The school has a large playing field on site, which is used regularly throughout the year for various sporting activities. There are also two playground areas, one of which is marked out for netball and there is also an adventure play area for the children. The school has an outdoors learner swimming pool, which is used as much as possible during the summer term. All pupils swim once a fortnight at Wincanton Leisure Centre. It must be recognised that all extra curricular activities take place because of the goodwill of the staff and parents responsible. During the school year a variety of clubs are available for the children to take part in. These include: football, cricket, netball, recorder and music. Charlton Horethorne Church of England School's mission is to enable everyone to acquire the knowledge, learn the skills and develop the attitudes necessary to become positive members of society.
