General information

Background: Selwood Anglican/Methodist Middle School is located on the eastern side of Frome. There is a strong tradition of home/school partnership and the school enjoys the support of the community, especially the two foundation churches. A distinctive feature of Selwood is its voluntary controlled Anglican and Methodist foundation. The music department offers a wide range of activities, which run on a weekly basis, including orchestra, string ensemble, flute group, harmony choir, recorder group and junk percussion band. Selwood has gained recognition for its teaching and coaching of boys and girls soccer by being awarded the Football Association?s Charter Standard. The school?s sport facilities include two football pitches, one hockey pitch, two netball courts, one basketball court and athletics track and field facilities. The main hall is used as a gymnasium and dance area. The school has developed links with the following youth sports clubs: Frome collegians AFC, Frome cricket club, Frome netball club, Frome RFC and Frome Selwood tennis club. During last summer holiday the school has completed two large building projects. The school aims to create a happy, stimulating and exciting atmosphere in which every individual is valued and encouraged to develop their full potential.
