General information

Background: The Castle School is a very successful, highly regarded comprehensive school. It is an arts college, which was built in 1969. The school is housed in a specialist building within attractive grounds. It has grown to 1700 students. The school has improved its examination results over the last decade with a high performance in sixth form. A music technology block was opened in 2002, to enable ?A? level students in the area to have appropriate, modern facilities for future study. The new sports hall and Astroturf pitch at the Castle School is a part of the ongoing renewal process of the school hours, the sports hall centre is also available for use by the local community. The centre contains a fully equipped gymnasium, a professional dance studio and a full size indoor five-a-side football pitch. In addition the school has a purpose-built art gallery exhibition and it has excellent international links. The school has a well-deserved reputation for meeting the needs of the individual students across the spectrum of ability. The provision for gifted and talented students is excellent as is the provision for particular learning needs. The school aims to provide a high standard of education for all children within a caring learning environment.
