General information
Background: Founded in 1967, St Bride's is located close to the town centre and occupies nine buildings on one site. Facilities include a dance studio, gym, specialist technology areas and computing suites. School accommodation is often used by the local community and in the evenings a full programme of community education is on offer on the site. In order to enrich the curriculum, St Bride's has established links with local industry and commerce, local churches and groups, in addition to local and national charities and training organisations. A range of extra-curricular activities are offered, including football, netball, athletics, golf, lunch-time concerts, swimming, instrumental tuition, discos, debating and public speaking, drama, quizzes and the school newspaper. Education has a Roman Catholic foundation, and the schools aims 'to provide opportunities for all members of the school community to attain their full potential'. The learning support department has a principal teacher and number of support staff who work closely with staff in other departments and at partner primary schools to make sure that the needs of each child are met.
