General information

Background: St Colman?s Abbey Primary School housed in fine stone building dating from 1937 in grounds of Cistercian Abbey established in 1144. There are 15 classrooms, assembly hall, library, staff room, offices, nursery unit and educational centre for physical disabilities. The school provides full range of extra-curricular activities including: French club, singing club, Gaelic football, basketball, singing and cross-country. It has won many awards and trophies, notably in football, cross-country, art and poetry and on two occasions for stories and verse in the Newry Storyteller's Award. The school is supported by many charities such as: NSPCC, Cancer Research, the local hospice, and the Lions Club. The school seeks to establish an educative community, centred on Jesus Christ so that his values and the Gospel message pervade the whole life and work of the school.
