General information

Background: Situated on the High Street of the 'very pleasant' village of Church Eaton, the present school is the latest in 'a long and continuous line' stretching back to the 15th century. This school was built in 1899, since when a series of extensions have been added, most notably in 1998, when a new entrance, library and offices were built. There is a computer and colour printer in every classroom. The school can provide extra support for pupils with learning difficulties. Parents are encouraged to be involved in their children's education, particularly when they first join the 'happy and caring' school. The recorder is taught to all pupils, and they can also learn the flute or clarinet in Years 5 and 6. A school play is performed every other year. Pupils in Years 3 to 6 can attend a club night once a week, offering a range of sports, dance, language and craft activities. The community plays a part in school life, with the school building used for Parish Council meetings and the village fete. The 'thriving' Parent-Teacher Association organises events to 'maintain and improve' relationships with the community and also raises funds for the school. Bring-and-buy sales and non-uniform days are arranged to raise money for charities. There are links with city schools, with the opportunity for pupils to study each other's lifestyles and take part in educational visits together. There are also inter-school sporting competitions in football, cricket, swimming, netball, rounders and athletics. The school is over-subscribed.
