General information

Background: Hassell is a town centre school in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It enjoys a very good reputation and prides itself on the excellent home-school partnership it enjoys. It was founded in 1881, but has been refurbished. The school teaches all national curriculum subjects and is now able to offer foreign language teaching at Year 5 and Year 6. It has a thriving chess clubs. A recent innovation is the purchase of interactive smart boards for information and communication technology. The school hopes to provide the children with a wealth of experiences to enrich their lives and which will be both stimulating and enjoyable. The school aims to provide a happy, caring and secure environment in which all children gain recognition and success, create a working atmosphere conducive to independent learning, foster personal qualities of self-esteem, thoughtfulness and consideration for others, develop respect, responsibility and an awareness of moral values. Hassell C. P. is fortunate to have supportive parents and a proactive governing body. It achieves high academic standards and strives to achieve the potential of all pupils ? irrespective of ability. The school offers a child a range of extra-curricular activities including most sports, choir and chess. The school?s community links are strong and these include the local churches, choir performing at local venues, school concerts and harvest gift distribution. .
