General information

Background: Walton High School is located to the south of the market town of Stafford. The school is currently housed in a 1960s style red brick building and 16 mobile classrooms. The school has facilities for hockey, rugby and netball, in addition to tennis courts and a swimming pool. It provides extra-curricular activities include dance, drama, chess, orienteering and the opportunity to join jazz, rock, wind and string bands or one of the two full-size orchestras. There is a youth and community centre on site, which offers the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, swimming for the disabled, discos and club nights. The school was recently awarded specialist science school status and has refurnished several science and ICT labs along with three maths rooms. It has a strong academic record in all subjects, with large proportion of students continuing into the sixth form and then into Higher Education. The school is determined to maintain a school environment that provides an orderly disciplined and caring school community, emphasising respect for others, self-discipline and service.
