General information

Background: Bealings is a Victorian village school which was founded in 1867. The grounds have recently been developed to include sculpture gardens, wildlife areas, climbing/play equipment, a sports field and further playspaces which are shaded from the sun. In addition to those subjects required by the national curriculum, the school also offers French. In the music department, tuition in the flute, clarinet or guitar is available and pupils also benefit from the opportunity to use information and communication technology. Sporting options for pupils include hockey, football, short tennis and netball, which are available as after-school clubs along with Italian, gymnastics, gardening, chess and art. In 1999-2000, the school's football team won their federation, and the netball team were runners-up. Seasonal concerts and pageants provide links with the community, and up to 20 people from the local area are involved in helping out in some capacity each week. Pupils, teachers and parents at Bealings are also involved in collections and fund-raising for national charities. .
