General information

Background: Shelfield was the first school in Walsall to achieve the prestigious ?Investor in People? award in 1995. In 1997 Shelfield was granted the Sportsmark Award by the English Sports Council and this was renewed in 2000. The college has forged links with local companies, relating to work experience, practice interviews, industrial placements and work related projects linked to GCSE, GNVQ and A-level courses. The college activities, which take place on site, are music, indoor, computer rooms, gymnasium, on stage and activities, which take place off site, are outdoors, swimming trips, snow boarding outings and abroad tips like holidays in Europe, ski-ing holidays. 'The school aims to provide each student with the experience of challenging learning styles that value both individual thinking and the collaborative skills of investigating, experimenting, and communicating.' .
