General information

Background: George Eliot Community School has a well-trained staff of teaching and support colleagues who are committed to providing the best possible education for all students entrusted to their care. The school offers all students many opportunities to develop interests outside the classroom. All students are encouraged to take part in a variety of educational visits, and many students represent the school at town, county and national levels. The school staffs run a wide range of clubs, activities and sports teams throughout the working week and school year, in the lunch breaks, after school or at weekends. There are teams in football, rugby, cross-country running, basketball, netball, hockey, athletics and cricket. The school library, which is staffed by a librarian and helpers, is open to the students every day. It has a spacious campus, which provides extensive playing fields. All the students regularly participate in fund raising events, raising large sums for both local and national charities. George Eliot Community School, working in partnership with its local community, aims to create a stimulating, challenging and caring environment in which individuals are encouraged to develop their full potential within the school, the community and wider world.
