General information

Background: Myton School founded in 1968 by the amalgamation of two single sex schools and serves Warwick and Leamington Spa. Nearly 20 per cent of its students are from ethnic minority backgrounds, the majority being Sikhs. The school occupies a very attractive site with extensive playing fields, and enjoys first class facilities. Every subject area is suited together and there are assembly halls, two gymnasia, a large library, sixth form common room and study area. A new science block with 15 laboratories was completed in 2000. The school was awarded Sportsmark status in 2000 for its sports provision. Music and drama are also strong. Students raise substantial amounts for charity every year. For September 2005, it will have two sports hall, floodlit Astroturf, all-weather facility that was opened in November 2003 and has been a tremendous success. The excellent provision of extra-curricular activities was a major consideration when Sport England rewarded Myton School with the Sportsmark Award. It offers football, rugby, hockey, netball, basketball, cross-country, athletics, cricket, rounders, table tennis, judo, fencing, badminton and Swimming. The school aims to provide a caring, traditional and well-disciplined environment.
