General information

Background: Founded in 1884, Stratford-upon-Avon Primary School is still housed in its original Victorian building. It has recently been extended and refurbished. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, basketball, French, and drama. Recent successes have included the netball shield, the Stratford Area football tournament and the uni-hoc tournament. Pupils have the opportunity to learn to play violin, woodwind, brass, guitar or piano. Funds are raised for charities such as Action Aid, Operation Christmas Child and local causes. Most recently the school participated in the ?Take One Picture? project ? a National Gallery initiative. The portfolio of Art and Design work, produced by the pupils has been chosen for the ?Take One Picture? exhibition, currently on view at the National Gallery, London. The school is currently bidding for the ?Gifted and Talented Achievement Award?. Pupils are actively involved in a range of extended school?s activities. The school aims to develop interpersonal skills, sharing and co-operating with each other in a variety of situations. Pupils are given many opportunities to develop their confidence, self-esteem and performance skills through weekly and termly opportunities to perform to a live audience. The school council exists to give pupils a voice, their views are respected. Strong links and an open welcome to parents results in an added sense of security and well?being for the pupils.
