General information

Background: The school was formed in 1971 as a mixed comprehensive grammar school and secondary modern. It moved to its new purpose-built accommodation in 2002. Sets on western outskirts of Malmesbury. It takes students from Malmesbury and many surrounding villages covering 100 square miles, including Minety, Oaksey, Brinkworth, Dauntsey, Luckington and Sherston. The school has recently expanded its vocational offer by initially; Building and Construction, Horse Care, Beauty Therapy and Health and Social Care. Excellent facilities of the school include 10 laboratories, drama, dance and music studios, gymnasium, seven technology rooms and purpose-built ICT. The school has use of adjacent sports centre and swimming pool. The school is not over-subscribed and its intake is governed by availability of transport rather than parental choice. It is notable for the quality of its drama and music, and sports teams, and individuals have competed both at county and national level. The school has achieved Sportsmark and Artsmark for its curriculum. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered in the school including: football, netball, rugby and hockey. The school provides a variety of activities at lunchtime and after-school to enhance the learning of pupils. The school aims to provide a happy, caring and successful environment, which promotes pride in everyone associated with it and where high expectations of students and staff lead to the full achievement of individual potential.
