General information

Background: Southwick Church of England Primary School is a voluntary controlled school, which was founded in 1868 for the education of the children of the local community. The school accommodates children from four to 11 years and is organised into six classes. The three infant classes and the class of oldest juniors are housed within the main building while the other two classes are in mobiles. All children at Southwick have access to computers both in each classroom and in the ICT suite. As well as games designed to develop children's language and mathematical abilities, children are encouraged to become confident in the use of word processing and data base facilities. The school organises a full and varied programme of clubs and activities. These vary from term to term but may include netball, football, cricket, rounders, chess, French, music and gardening. All children are able to develop their skills of composition and performance using a range of instruments as well as their own voices. The school is currently involved in the school sport coordinator programme, which provides equipment and training. A place where it learns to be able to keep on learning and try its best for the rest of its lives.
