General information

Background: Ryeish Green School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school. The semi-rural location of the school, situated in open countryside, yet close to Reading and Wokingham, provides an enviable learning environment. One-storey buildings (with full access for disabled students) surrounded by well-attended gardens, shrubs and trees and extensive playing fields,provide the ideal setting for adolescents to grow and develop into young adults. The school offers a wide range of clubs and activities during the lunch break and after school. These include ICT, art, chess and a wide range of sports. Ryeish Green School has achieved 'Sportsmark' from Sport England in recognition of its commitment to physical education and sports provision. The school has also been awarded an 'Education Extra Award' for its out of hours library provision. Music, art and drama, provided ample opportunities for students to express themselves in a wide range of activities. Visits, both at home and abroad, are regular features in the school?s calendar. The computer network covers the entire school and every computer on the network is Internet linked and has access to the latest office software. The school has interactive electronic 'Smartboards' and video conferencing facilities to encourage individual leaning programmes, as well as for whole class interactive teaching.
