General information

Background: The Bulmershe School provides an excellent learning environment for all students. The school began as a grammar school in 1964 on this same site and has since become the all ability, co-educational school it is today. The science department has ten fully equipped laboratories with adjoining preparation rooms. There are specialist rooms for mathematics, information technology, business, secretarial studies, history, geography, English, languages and music. The technology centre has been developed as a centre of excellence and provides for work in a wide range of areas including metal, wood, plastics, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, art, photography, pottery and food technology. The school has a wide range of extra-curricular activities including athletics, badminton, basketball, circuit training, cricket, cross-country, dance, football, gymnastics, hockey, ice skating, netball, outdoor pursuits (climbing, canoeing), rounders, rugby, short tennis, soft ball, swimming, tennis, table tennis, trampolining, volleyball. In Years 7, 8 and 9 all students study English, mathematics, French, geography, history, religious studies, art, music, physical education, drama, information and communication technology, citizenship and personal, social and health education. In Years 10 and 11 students study English, mathematics, science, physical education, religious studies, careers, information and communication technology, technology and citizenship. The school aims to develop in its students a sense of achievement in the academic challenges they face and to praise and celebrate their accomplishments in a wide variety of ways.
