Background: Elvington Church of England Voluntary Controlled Primary School founded in the 19th century. It is a four to 11 co-educational school maintained by City of York Council and with a church foundation. The school is now housed in buildings dating from 1969, with large play areas and field. It is located in a village about eight miles from the centre of York, with quick access. The school has a large hall for physical education and drama.
